About the Course

Learn the fundamentals of running a successful troop, including program planning, the patrol method, advancement, and much more. For Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters, this course is part of the requirements to earn the "Trained" patch.

Logistical Details

  • March 4 and 11, 2017
  • Southeastern Vocational High School, Easton (map and directions)
  • During Merit Badge University (MBU)
  • Sessions run from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
  • You must attend both sessions to complete the course.
  • This course does not count toward your troop's MBU volunteer requirement, so please make sure your troop has enough adults assisting as merit badge counselors, hall monitors, or other MBU staff.
  • For more information, contact the course director, Paul Norton.

Register Online

Course fee:

  • Free for adult leaders registered in Old Colony Council, thanks to the activity fee that all of our Scouts pay as part of their registration starting 1/1/17. We'll just suggest a small donation to help defray the cost of refreshments.
  • $10 for adult leaders registered in other councils, to cover training materials, etc.

Register online!

Pre-registration is required (no walk-ins allowed) because the volunteer training staff need a head count to prepare supplies. Our registration deadline is Thursday, March 2.

What to Bring
