Outdoor Leader Skills (OLS) Training
April 7-8, 2017
About the Course
Outdoor Leader Skills (OLS) is an overnight hands-on training for Boy Scout and Venturing leaders. It covers outdoor camping skills (cooking, knots, woods tools, etc.). Learn new skills, reinforce old ones, and build confidence to teach these skills to Scouts. For Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters, this course is part of the requirements to earn the "Trained" patch. It's also part of the requirements for adult leaders of a Venturing crew that runs an outdoor program.
Logistical Details
- April 7-8, 2017
- Wrentham Developmental Center, 131 Emerald St., Wrentham (map and directions)
- Sign in between 7 and 7:15 PM on Friday, April 7. We'll have you on your way home after the closing campfire on Saturday night--approximately 9:30 PM.
- Please note that this course starts on Friday evening. We've had a lot of requests for an OLS course that does not conflict with Sunday family and religious obligations, which is why we're offering a Friday/Saturday option once a year. There's a day and a half of material to cover, so you must arrive on Friday to get credit for completing the course. If you're not able to arrive on Friday, please sign up for our Saturday/Sunday version of the course in the fall!
- For more information, contact the course director, Chris Lamie.
Register Online
Course fee: $20 for leaders registered in Old Colony Council; $30 for out-of-council leaders.* This fee covers the cost of Friday evening snack; Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner; and training supplies.
*Old Colony Council leaders get a discount because basic leader training costs are subsidized by an activity fee that all of our Scouts pay with their annual registration.
This course has already taken place. If you missed us, look for our next course in fall 2017!
